About the Event

Talking to kids and teens about money is always challenging. But when families also have to navigate US-Canada financial and banking challenges, things can get really complicated!

Join our panellists for tips and strategies on how to get your kids comfortable with financial planning and how to unpack some of the technical challenges of moving money across the border to cover budget needs, Canadian university tuition, or other cross-border family needs.

Our expert panel includes:

Heather Pelant, Partner and Certified Financial Planner at Baker Street Advisors -- an Asset and Wealth Management firm in San Francisco

Heather works closely with clients on their investment and financial strategies. Prior to joining Baker Street Advisors, Heather served as BlackRock’s Head of Direct and Personal Investing business. She has over 20 years of industry experience with Morgan Stanley and BlackRock in San Francisco, Toronto and Hong Kong. Heather is from British Columbia and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Victoria. She is also an active member of the Digital Moose Lounge.

Matt Altro, President & CEO at MCA Cross Border Advisors

Matt is a Certified Financial Planner in Canada (Financial Planning Standards Council), in the US (US CFP Board), and in Quebec (Institut québecois de planification financière). He has specialized knowledge with respect to cross border tax and financial planning for Canadians moving to the US, US residents moving to Canada, US citizens living in Canada, or executive employees relocating between the countries. He is a graduate of McGill University, and is completing his Masters of Business Taxation at the University of Minnesota.
